Week 2 Group Meeting Picture

Prototype Option:

Due to time constraints and individual skills capabilities, the prototype option that our team has selected is the partially operational appearance prototype.

Software issues:

  1. What software is involved?
  2. The software that might be involved with are projects are Arduino, Maxmsp, Solidworks, Illustrater, and a hardware package (barcode reader)

  3. Are there any technical obstacles?
  4. The technical obstacles that will be a challenge is having all the software link and working together.

  5. Can we do it?
  6. At this point, we are uncertain if our skills are enough to handle any obstacles that would arise in a later stage.

  7. What are the options?
  8. The alternative solution we could approach is having a preset simulation.

  9. Do we have sufficient time?
  10. We believe with all the refinements, researches, and the workload that needs to be invested into project is not enough time.

  11. Who will actually do the work?
  12. All the members in the team will participate and be involved with the work, creating and resolving any software issues that arises.

Hardware Issues:

  1. What hardware is involved?
  2. Our project construction material mainly revolves with plastic.

  3. Are there any technical obstacles?
  4. The technical obstacles that we will be facing is incorporating the LCD screen (not having the perfect shape and size)

  5. Can we do it?
  6. We strongly believe we are capable of constructing the hardware.

  7. What are the options?
  8. Our alternative will be using the 3D modeling machine or using foam board to produce parts we need.

  9. Do we have any special parts?
  10. Can we afford them? Can we get them in time? Selinoids, Card reader, Bar code reader, and Arduino are all available to us provided by SFU and home hardware; price range is within our budget.

Plan for creating the prototype:

  1. How much time is avaiable to build the system?
  2. A month and a half (approximately 6 weeks) is available to build the system?

  3. When it can be built?
  4. We assume that we should be able to start building in week 5 (the earliest, if everything goes as planned)

  5. Number of resources and any dependencies required?
  6. There are several number of resources and dependencies required to create the prototype. These resources and dependencies are all related to the software, hardware materials and so on that’s available to us in the market and their alternatives.

  7. Who will actually do what?
  8. All team member will participate in all activities during each phase.

  9. Do we have a back-up plan for contingency?
  10. We do have a back-up plan for most contingencies.
